Benidorm is half way between Javea and Alicante. It has a shoreline which is not typical of this part of the Costa Blanca with many high rise hotels and more brash bars and restaurants. The beaches however are renowned for their cleanliness. There is an older part of the town surrounding the church where the tapas bars can be found.
Teulada/Moraira are just down the coast towards Alicante. Teulada is the typical Spanish inland town with church and weekly market. Moraira has been developed as a modern seaside town and port, but also has a historic tower.
Jalon is a village in the heart of the wine growing area. Visit Jalon for its picturesque church, bodegas (wine-tasting) its Saturday rasto (flea market) and its restaurants (particularly popular for Sunday lunch)
Just beyond Javea in the direction of Alicante the coast becomes more rocky. A succession of picturesque bays provide opportunities for walking and excursions by boat. Try the coastal restaurants of Barraca for eating with spectacular views.
The lighthouse to the north of Javea is on Cap San Antonio. Fom here there are splendid views back over Javea. You can walk to the windmills which can be seen clearly fom Javea and which used to be used for grinding wheat.
