  • The week leading up to Ash Wednesday - Carnival. Floats, processions, fancy dress, street dancing.
  • Funeral of the sardine - Ash Wednesday. An effigy of a sardine is buried at sea signifying the start of fasting for Lent.
  • The week leading up to Easter - Religious processions involving the carrying of images of the Virgin from churches around the town.
  • Craft fair Javea Pueblo
  • March 19th - Burning of the Fallas - enormous effigies set up in the streets in celebration of San Jose. The most spectacular are in Valencia but they can also be seen in Denia and some other towns They can be viewed in their finished state a day or two before the burning.
